The name of the bay is due to the wreck of the scientific vessel "Vityaz" managed by a drunk crew in the local waters. The wreckages of this vessel rest on the bottom of the bay and are the objects of divers researching. The bottom of the bay is sandy; the depths gradually increase to the exit from the bay and reach a maximum value of 36 meters.
